The odds continue to firm that Malcolm Turnbull will lead the Coalition into the next federal election.
A week ago, Mr Turnbull was at the outside odds of $7 with Sportingbet.com.au to be the Prime Minister heading into the next election. He’s now a clear $2.80 second favourite with Sportingbet.
It’s now just $2, or a flip of the coin, that Mr Abbott is still in the top job heading into the next election.
“Once upon a time Mr Abbott was at Black Caviar odds of $1.10 in this market, but we haven’t written a bet for him since last October,” said Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown.
“More than 70% of the money we’ve taken this week has been for Mr Turnbull to take over.”
Julie Bishop is a $3.50 third pick in Sportingbet’s market.
The Coalition and ALP are $1.90 equal favourites at Sportingbet to win the next election.
